Becoming a father

Before becoming a father, I knew that I would love my child more than anything else. As follows, I figured that everything else would be downgraded by exactly one pinhole on the love-scale.

I was wrong. Something else happened.

When I became a father, my heart grew bigger. Not just for my son, but for everything else that I already loved. Love, I realized, is a self-reinforcing feedback loop.

It’s a mistake to think of love as a finite resource.
