So, these twelve Netflix episodes are well worth a watch!
All episodes of the new Netflix show Criminal takes place in and around the interrogation room on a police station. Three of them take place in the UK, three in Spain, three in France, and three in Germany. The premise is interesting; how do you get a person who don’t want to talk to… talk?
The screenwriting reminds me of another one of my favourite shows, In Treatment1. Only this show deals with police work instead of therapy. If you, like me, are into the psychology of persuasion, Criminal is a must-watch.
Cat and Mouse
The battle between the wits of the interrogators and the accused under pressure is thrilling and highly enjoyable to watch.
Some Serious Acting
The acting is on point in this mini-series. I’m usually bored by side-stories, but here they are subtle and highly relevant.
The Empire Strikes Back
All participating countries delivers some great episodes, but none comes close to the British episodes.
The viewer is invited behind the scenes and as various powerful interrogation techniques are used. Lovely!
Now, I wish the police had such brilliant professionals (i.e. psychological geniuses) on staff. I wish interrogators had these kind of resources. In real life, they don’t. This doesn’t bother me as I’m not a realism purist, but it could bother some viewers.
