Random Ideas

I believe in jotting down ideas (both good and bad) whenever they decide to turn up.

A Youtube PR channel

When thinking about it, a reasonable question to ask oneself is, “Does this world really need yet another Youtube channel?”

In 99 times out of 100, the answer is probably no. I appreciate that.

But the random idea that can’t escape me is that there are no PR pros on Youtube talking about PR. That could very well be for good reason; PR as a topic is difficult to penetrate. Having blogged about PR for more than a decade, I should know.

Still, plenty experts share their knowledge to grownup business audiences on Youtube all the time. And there are plenty of people working with communication and PR to make this random idea worth considering.

I love to create content and I have a niche expertise not currently served on Youtube. Sure, I’m not a native English speaker, but I get around, I think.

The barrier of entry is high, of course. The realistic approach is that I need to create at least 100 videos before I find my style, my tonality. And I estimate that I would need a backlog of at least 200 decent videos to acquire enough daily views to make the effort worth while.

If I were to publish two decent videos on PR per week for 50 weeks per year, that would result in 200 videos total over two years. Well, I can easily come up with 200 topic ideas using this blog alone.

Would it be possible to streamline the production and editing process so this becomes a doable 2-year experiment? Worth thinking some more about, for sure.
